Where the church stands in Mongolia

When Mongolia emerged from communism in 1990, there were thought to be only a handful of Mongolian Christians. Within a generation a church of tens of thousands had grown, led by Mongolians, with Scripture in Mongolian and congregations in every province.

The church now faces the challenges of its second generation: training leaders, reaching nomadic herding communities spread across vast distances, and engaging the Kazakh Muslim minority in the far west, which remains largely unreached.

What "Less-reached" means

There is a church, but it is small relative to the population, or the Christian identity is far more widespread than active faith. Much of the nation can still live a whole life without meeting a follower of Jesus.

In Mongolia the majority religious context is Buddhism (~52%), no religion (~40%). The largest population still considered without meaningful Gospel access is the Kazakh Muslims in the far west and rural herding communities.

How to pray for Mongolia

Prayer is not a substitute for going; it is how going begins. Take one of these for a week rather than all of them for a day.
